Günther Hermann is a meticulous illustrator. In his depictions of landscapes and gardens one can feel the love of detail. Mainly the interaction of architecture, gardening and nature takes centre stage of his works.
His landscapes are more than just settings and clichés; they are deeply felt, romantic places, where the observer loves to stay. In this regard the accuracy of his colour etchings is noteworthy. That way he achieves the luminance and mysterious light effects, which are characteristic for his works. Through artistic alienation Hermann manages it in a fascinating way, to give the captured places a particular aura.
Günther Hermann was born in Gießen in 1956. He studied painting and graphic arts at the renowned art school Städel in Frankfurt. Besides his work as a freelance artist he works as a lecturer for painting and drawing and the technique of colour etching.
